For some of us, the last full day of riding on the cross country tour started out as "I'm going to take it easy and not ride too fast" but with the threat of afternoon thunderstorms it quickly turned into "damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead". In the end, it was an exhilarating and successful ride from Vermont through New Hampshire and into Massachusetts... We have made it to our destination of the metropolitan Boston area and tomorrow we ride the final 19 miles to the Atlantic Ocean.

Congratulations on finishing your adventure. So, when are you going to do it again? Doesn't Robert have any time off?
ReplyDeleteGreg, Great job. It was awesome to see your progress and get to learn the country. Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteI’ve known Greg for going on three years now. He has always humbly portrayed himself as a regular guy; you know “average Joe.” Medium-off-the-rack, as he likes to say. Well Greg, I’m sorry but I’m going to have to disagree with you. Ordinary people don’t successfully ride 3414 miles across the country…extraOrdinary people do! Congratulations on a truly remarkable accomplishment. At your send-off party I said that I was 1000% certain that you would be able to complete the journey, and you proved me right. But beyond that, as someone who has watched the love of cycling blossom in you, I knew that you would have a phenomenal time doing it. I know that I speak for all those back home and the many others that followed your adventure on the blog in saying that we are truly proud to know someone with your will, drive, and determination. We all have a grandiose “To Do” lists that spell out the dreams and aspirations that we have for our precious time here on earth. When you return home, put a big fat DONE on your list next to the entry that says: ride my bike across the USA!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job and Congratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteI have been following the ride every day and I'm very excited to have the opportunity to participate in XC11.
Please post some "overall ride thoughts" after you have time to decompress and celebrate your outstanding accomplishment.
You should be very proud of yourself, Job well done.
I will be doing a blog of next years ride...feel free to follow along.
All The Best,
Jeff (XC11)
