You know it's getting serious when 73 miles on the bike is a recovery ride... We've logged 350 miles in the last 4 days and I'm beginning to wonder how we keep doing the seemingly impossible. It's noteworthy that I rode my first century only 30 months ago and I remember contemplating then that perhaps I was crazy. I suppose there in no longer any doubt about that.
My trusty steed and I (along w/ 20 other riders) arrived in the flat green plains of Oklahoma today and were greeted for the first time by a real headwind for the last 20 miles of the ride. I call it "flat hills", but it was a beautiful and invigorating day nonetheless.
Tomorrow we visit the land of Oz.
Over 1,000 before your first headwind....NICE.
ReplyDeleteAre you riding in groups / pacelines?
See, it was the priest! I think you've used up all your wind Karma - time to stop sprinking your beach sand on the state lines.
ReplyDeleteThe "gang of four" is looking good under Big Tex's watchful eye. I'm sure that you guys can conquer any headwind by riding together. Your training at the Sovang Century should serve you well. Spin class today felt like riding to Texas without actually going anywhere! Good luck crossing over into Oz tomorrow.
